Using Your Network for Good

How grand would you feel if you knew that you had contributed to your community’s largest charitable events ever?

Sacramento’s Big Day of Giving, held May 6, 2014, raised over $3,000,000 in just 24 hours. Nearly 19,000 individuals gave to 394 different non-profits. Wide ranging missions from community organizations that supported arts, animals, kids, seniors & health.

I knew I wanted to participate in a big way. Although I didn’t have the financial resources to contribute like some of my affluent friends, I could give something. But, like many of you, I have a large amount of social capital.

Via my company Get on the Map Social Marketing I set up a Tint Promotion that would publicize all the hashtagged tweets, Facebook posts and Instagram photos using the tag #givebigdog. I made that available for anyone to embed on their own blog or website.
